Excel Garner, Born and raised in the Hollis section of Queens, globally recognized dancer and choreographer is nothing short of remarkable. At just 15 years old, Excel began cutting hair while honing his skills as a dancer. By 18, he co-founded the dance group “Kwietstorm” with three close friends, introducing their innovative fusion of street, funk, and hip-hop styles to audiences far beyond Queens. Known for his unique dance style that blends hip-hop and club influences, Excel has captivated crowds and turned heads wherever he performs. Excel’s talent has taken him across the country and beyond, performing with industry icons such as Robin S, Ashanti, Whitney Houston, and Heavy D. His extensive credits include appearances in music videos for artists like Zhane, PMD of the legendary rap group EPMD, Quad City DJ’s, and Vicious.

Excel has also graced screens in commercials for brands like MCI and Boss Clothing and performed in films,including the Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs hit Brown Sugar, where he showcased his breakdancing skills. Notably, he was a recurring performer on Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam for four years. Excel’s career extends beyond performing to choreography, where his impact has been equally profound. He has choreographed for Swedish artist Space, the Indian film Kehtaa Kai Baar Baar, and his own stage production, “CHARGED”.

His choreography credits span from European tours for Carla of KGM/Breaking Records to Queen Latifah’s Getoworks Records artist F.A.T.E. and music videos for Ruff Ryder’s Drag-On, FUBU artist 54th Platoon, and Justine Simmons’ My Funny Valentine, featuring Rev. Run of Run-DMC.

With over 35 years of experience, Excel has built a legacy as an accomplished choreographer, teacher, and mentor. He regularly judges dance battles, competitions and teaches master classes across the U.S. and internationally, sharing the stage with luminaries like Darrin Henson and Laurie Ann Gibson. His choreography has earned top honors at numerous competitions, and his dedication to excellence was recognized with the prestigious “Excel Garner” award, presented by The Exquisite Awards to those who excel in hip-hop dance and style. A proud member of Dance Masters of America, Excel continues to push boundaries in the dance world.

He conducts weekly hip-hop classes in the NY/Tri-State area, choreographs and directs company performances which marked the beginning of his work in concept videos, where he produces, films, edits, and choreographs original works. Excel remains a passionate mentor, inspiring the next generation of dancers to pursue their dreams and live by his mantra: “Dance Hard or Don’t Dance At All!” His artistry, dedication, and influence ensure that his legacy will endure as he continues to shape and elevate the art of dance.
